Bike helmet safety

NTA 8776 explained

NTA 8776 is the Dutch safety standard for helmets used on speed pedelecs and other e-bikes up to 45 km/h. Compared with a regular bike helmet (EN 1078), it is tested at higher impact speeds and covers more of your head.

Quick answers

How do I know a helmet is NTA 8776 certified?

Look for the NTA 8776 label inside the helmet, next to the CE marking. No label means the helmet is not certified for speed pedelecs.

Can I wear an NTA 8776 helmet on a normal e-bike?

Yes. It is allowed on any bicycle and gives you more protection than a standard bike helmet.

Is an NTA 8776 helmet heavier?

A little. The GO-OFF PILOT weighs about 350 grams, much lighter than a typical moped helmet.
